Summer Begins

School got out for me on June 18th.  There was a lot to do to be able to walk away from my teaching career.  I was trying really hard to have my stuff out and the things that were the districts organized for the next combo teacher finished by the end of the day.  It didn't happen.  I ended up going back on Monday.  I stayed until I was finished.  I knew I had to be done because family was going to arrive on Wednesday and I needed time to get my home ready.  Kari, Haylie, Weston, Tanner and Ryder came.  Wayne and I were in charge of the three boys while Kari and Haylie went to London to visit Tim, Tanya, Marisa and Natalie.  They left on Thursday.  Wayne was in charge of the 3 boys while I took a quick trip to Salt Lake.  Lily Ann and David were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  I hadn't been to SL for at least 18 months.  I was only gone Saturday and Sunday.  Thanks to Mimi for watching the boys while Wayne took me and picked me up from the airport.   There was only one problem, Wayne ended up needing to play the piano for the ward choir because the pianist had a baby early Sunday morning.

I took the boys to 7-11 for slurpees.  Ryder had his out under the swing set.

One Monday Cade arrived.  He had to be picked up at the airport.  Janna, Stone, Rusty, Van and Sawyer also arrived.  They had been to a family reunion in Utah and drove the rest of the way to see us.  We tried to do some fun things during the week before the rest of the family started arriving for the beach house.

Water fun in the backyard.  Sawyer in Wayne's traditional position.  Mimi and Marc let us use their swimming pool one day.  The grandkids got introduced to the Lauper's turtles and treated to homemade snow cones.

We spent some time at Los Robles Park.  I think this is such a special picture of Ryder and Sawyer.

One day we went to La Brea Tar Pit.  I think the boys enjoyed the bones and the tar.  It is rather interesting how we still have bubbling tar in the area.  I think the boys had the most fun climbing the trees during our lunch break.  The Tar Pit is next to an art museum.  This is actually art.  Wayne and I saw this rock being moved from the desert to LA.  It took over a week and traveled only at night.

I think she could still fit in her dress.

I stayed at Kent and Judy's home.  Judy has become quite a quilter.  She has this quilt that was made by my great grandma.  Judy has made a replica.  This is a picture of the original.
