Memorial Day

I had one last furlough day that backed up to Memorial Day.  That meant that I had a four day weekend.  We thought about going to Colorado, but the rest of my RS presidency was also going to be out of town, besides summer was quickly approaching and we would get to see everyone very soon.  So Wayne and I planned a mini vacation around home.  Our first day we went on a hike in Griffith Park and a visit to the Observatory.

Great views of the Hollywood sign and downtown Los Angeles.
The Observatory was very crowded and the parking was horrible, but we got lucky and parked in the lot and not way down the road.

Isn't he a handsome man?

On Memorial Day we went to the ward pancake breakfast and thought we would go for a hike in the mountains.  When we got to the top of the canyon there was no place to park.  We decided to go to the Arboretum.  It reminded me of Aunt Edna.  She lived very close to here.  In fact the Santa Anita Mall was built right across from her old place, which is right across from the Arboretum.

Tuesday  we went to Getty Museum.  Wayne had never been to this location.  It is a great museum.  We could have spent more time, but a few hours was all we felt like.  It was my day off, but Wayne still needed to spend some time at work.

Thanks Wayne for a fun weekend.
