PHDs with lots of help

Yesterday Wayne and I were going to go watch the Call kids play soccer. However, with the recent fires their games were canceled. The air has been really unhealthy. So I convinced Wayne to help with some things that needed to get done. He helped, but only after a quick 9 holes of golf. The picture tells it all. The avocado tree has been hanging over the roof of the family room. The whole tree is loaded with avocados. Wayne trimmed about 2 branches. These two boxes are just from three branches. There are tons more on the tree. We need an avocado picker or at least something with a long pole. Yes Trent, he should have brought some with him when he went to visit. You would love them.

After getting the branches off the house we realized the rain gutter was full of stuff. (You do one thing and it always seems to lead to another thing needed to be done.) So I got up on the ladder to try and clean the gutter. The ladder slipped. I was just dangling with my feet on the tilted ladder and clinging to the rain gutter. I yelled for Wayne. He thought all he needed to do was straighten the ladder. Needless to say he pulled the ladder out from under my feet and I fell. Fortunately, I landed on the bushes underneath and just ripped a hole in my shirt. It is kind of funny now. After that I decided to climb through Sara's window and sweep off the roof and help clean the gutter. We decided another branch needed to be trimmed. Wayne couldn't reach it from the ground so he climbed on the roof. He wasn't really very close to the edge, but he did say it was SCARY. Then he went back down and handed me the hose so I could finish cleaning the gutter.

As you can see, we then moved to the lime tree. It is so full of limes. The sacks you see are only about 1/3 of what is on the tree. We will need to pick more another Saturday. Hopefully we will have them off before the grandkids come and decided it looks fun to throw them over the fence and into the neighbor's yards. Wayne received the only injuries. He has several big scratches from the thorns on the lime tree.

As you can see, PHD's aren't just Pedro working. Actually Pedro was the one that decided to do these jobs yesterday. I really had other on the top of my honey do's.

Wicked

Today Wayne helped me with some more PHD's. I have had one of these mirrors for over a year. Once this bathroom was painted I knew this is where I wanted the mirror so I had to order a second one. The room is almost finished. I need a little more decoration but it is looking much better. Thank you Sara for doing a poor parenting project. And Luke, thanks for your thoughts on how to anchor the mirrors. They really are heavy. Maybe when you get to come see us you can tell us if we did it right. This afternoon the two of us went to Hollywood with the Burninghams to see WICKED. Sara, you were right. It is a great musical. It has fantastic costumes and props. The music was excellent. I'm ready to go back and see it again. This is the inside of the theatre.
We hope all the birthday kids have had great birthdays. Kari, your birthday entries with the pictures have been really fun. We love all of you.

Time to Post

Sara, I know you will be reading this soon. Luke was the blog police last time. Now it is my turn. I know you are busy but, you do take time to read the other blogs. Just need a little update.

Painting and More Painting

Wayne and I have been doing some updating on the bedrooms this past year. Recently we have had Joel Caputo painting the bedrooms. This is Sara's room. She asked for yellow. I think it looks good.
I really liked this Pottery Barn bedspread. So now the room is painted pink and blue. I need to find somethings to go on the walls. I'm not sure I really like how this room turned out.
Sara choose the color for this bathroom. She even had a poor parenting experience by painting the room. I bought some new mirrors to go above the sink. Wayne will have a Pedro honey do experience helping me figure out how to put the mirrors up. They are quite heavy. Luke, do you have any suggestions?
For those of you who have not been home since last Christmas this is what I have done to the master bedroom. I hope you noticed that all the wallpaper is gone and that we actually have a new headboard and night stands to match. This picture doesn't show the crown molding, but we have that too.
Joel is still working on the downstairs bedroom. Perhaps I will have pictures of that room next time. Now that all the walls are painted I need help in figuring out what to put on them. I'm not very creative in interior design. Besides, I really don't like to go shopping especially for decorations. My problem is that I can't seem to make up my mind so I just leave things at the store.

Janna, for your information. We have no more wallpaper anywhere in the house. I was funny putting it up, but it was definitely not fun getting it off the walls. Even the borders were hard.

October is birthday month for several. Happy Birthday Trent, Carin, Janna and Stone.
