Summer Continues- Steamboat Springs

After the beach house Tanya stayed with us.  Marisa slipped in the bathtub and split her chin open.  It was quite an ordeal to get it stitched up.
I tried to do a few fun things with them before we left for Steamboat.  This is the Children's Museum in La Habra.

We had lunch outside with the dinosaurs.

Our first hike in Steamboat was to Fish Creek Falls.  We had to take cover several times between downpours.

The falls didn't have as much water as last year, but it is still an easy hike and very pretty.

Last year we couldn't even get to this part of the stream.  The stream was very full and fast moving.  It was just right this year.

The kids loved playing in the water and throwing rocks.

The horses were by the Alpine slide area.  These two enjoyed the stinky smell.
Waiting for our turn.

One morning a group walked up to the top of the mountain where the gondola stops.  If you walk up you get a free ride down.  The younger ones rode the gondola with Tanya and Elaine.  I think Lilly doesn't enjoy rides.  She was a little scared.
The view at the top is so clear.

We went to Steamboat Springs Lake.  It was almost as good as the California beach.  The sand wasn't the same, but good enough to play in. After a group of us had played a bump game with the ball it got away from up.  Haylie was trying to swim after it.  The wind just kept taking it away.  Then a second ball got loose.  We thought for sure they would float to the other side of the lake.  Well, before they could, a nice man in a boat fetched them for us.

Bathing beauties.  Haylie, Tanya, Janna, Carin and Kari

We rented a paddle boat.  Janna went out with just really young kids.  She had a hard time getting back to shore.  One trip out were just the middle age kids.  They had a hard time steering.  Some of them actually abandoned the boat.
I wonder what they were pointing at? Stone, Brynn, and Weston.
Natalie, Sawyer, Lilly.  Three adorable 3 year olds.
The grandkids loved playing in the water and throwing rocks wherever we could find it.  I think the favorite spot was just outside the condo.
Luckily Ryder was in his swimming suit.  He fell in and was rescued by Cade.  It's nice to have big brothers.

We tried out a couple of hot springs this year.  I think this one is called Strawberry Hot Springs.  It is away from the city.  It is in a very natural setting.  The bottoms were rocky and slimy.  Very hard to walk in.  There were different temperature pools.  I think the boys liked it the best.

This is Steamboat Springs Hot Spring.  It is right in the city. Wayne took a few of the kids.  It was more like a regular pool.

One afternoon we went miniature golfing and wandered through a maze.  It was a really hot day.  As you can see,  some of them enjoyed the decoration more than the golfing.

The pool was great.  Everyone had fun.  Marco Polo was played several times.  Shea and Van stayed in the shallow end and were getting to be pretty good swimmers.

Possible future Olympian?
The hot tubs were enjoyed by all.  Could any more possible fit?
It was a fantastic family vacation.
